Demonstrations

Sue Haseltine will be doing demonstrations each open day at 2pm showing various approaches to image making such as lino-cutting, line and wash drawing, watercolour, monoprinting, paper stencil screenprinting and more.

We're hoping for good weather so that our visitors will be able to enjoy the lovely Spring views of the Downs and explore the large garden which is looking gorgeous; full of flowers, birds and bumblebees. There’ll be lots of seating both in the house and outdoors so that you can relax in the beautiful environment and see the delightful artwork and crafts.

There are quite a few other houses opening nearby and there is a beautiful park just down the road to the West, called Withdean Park, and Hollingbury Hill Fort is ten minutes walk up the hill in the other direction.

Getting here - Walking, driving, cycling or bus

There is usually ample on street parking on Greenfield Crescent (the house is at the Braybon Avenue end). Link to map

The 5B bus stops just at the end of the road, the bus stop is called Greenfield Crescent but do make sure it's the 5B as the other two number 5 buses don't come very near to the house.

Walking from Brighton takes about 35 minutes to the house from Preston Circus if you walk up via the back of Preston Park and Surrenden Road, and cycling is about 15minutes from Preston Circus up the London Road to start of with.

If you're coming by train it's about a 25 minute walk through the leafy Surrenden area from Preston Park Station.
