Stop Press: We are opening for one more weekend at the Handmade House in Ditchling. We will be open Saturday 30th, Sunday 31st 11am- 6pm. Hoping for good weather on both days!
For the Brighton Festival 2015 Artists' Open Houses Sue Haseltine is taking part in two shows -
The Handmade House, Beards Place Farm, 98, Lewes Road, Ditchling
Eva Wibberley and friends at 24 Harrington Villas, Brighton (North end of Preston Park, Five Ways trail).
In preparation for the exhibitions in this year's festival Sue has been making paintings and new prints in earnest. She has been printing using the new aquisition of a 1867 Albion Press which has provided inspiration for many new lino cuts. The press had belonged to Sussex Downs College for many years and was used by Robert Towner to teach printmaking to his students there. It had been out of commission for longer than 34 years but is now working beautifully and has been slowly restored inbetween printing sessions! The picture here on the right of Mount Caburn and Firle Beacon from Kingston Ridge was printed on the press seen below.
Solo show at the Trinity Arts Centre Gallery - 14th July - 8th August
Sue will be exhibiting a wide range of paintings and prints based on landscape at the Trinitiy Arts Centre in Tunbridge Wells. The Centre has a beautiful open and light exhibition space alongside the theatre and bar there. Further details to follow soon.
